Should someone be home to meet the repair tech?

First time customers must be home to meet with us and show us around the home. Since payment is due at the time of service, new customers should plan to be available throughout the repair or to return at a time the tech estimates she/he will be finished.

For many of our established clients, we keep a key to their home, a security code for entry, or we have a designated spot for them to leave a key (for scheduled visits). This allows us to provide necessary repairs without inconvenience to our client as well as access for emergencies. Our goal is to provide the best service with minimal inconvenience to our clients.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How are fees for services paid?

All fees for services are due on receipt and you will be provided with an invoice at the time of service. For our established clients who do not meet us at the home, we typically leave an invoice at the time of service. Clients must establish a strong payment history and remain in good standing to be billed for services.

Larger installation or remodel/renovation jobs require a good-faith deposit to cover the cost of materials before the job is started. A formal contract will be drawn up for larger jobs to ensure that your expectations are clearly stated and both parties are in agreement.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you guarantee your work?

Absolutely! We guarantee all of our work to be of the highest quality and workmanship. If it ever becomes necessary for us to return to a job for any reason, you can be sure we’ll make you our top priority. No job is finished until you are totally and completely satisfied.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you offer free estimates?

Due to time involved and the rising cost of fuel, we charge $39 for a "simple" project (usually 1-2 item repairs/replacements). Many estimates also require research to determine the best fix at the most economical price. A truly accurate estimate can take 1-3 hours to complete.

Estimating an entire house rehab/refurbish can require 3-6 hours depending on the extent of the repairs. This includes time to meet with the clients, perform a visual inspection for repair, and go over the inspection report (if one is available). We charge $250 for an estimate only (based on an existing inspection report) and $400 for an estimate plus a full inspection.

Payment for all estimates must be received before the paperwork can be released. A percentage of the charge on larger estimates ($250 or higher) will be credited back to the customer following acceptance of the bid and completion of the project.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you provide emergency service after hours?

Yes! We offer 24-hour service 7 days a week on all emergencies. We have technicians on call at all times to take care of you and your home in any emergency.

Our Home Maintenance Agreement and HVAC Agreement customers never incur any extra charge for night and weekend emergency calls.

Remodel and Update Projects
How do I get started on a remodel or update project?

With a simple idea! Once you've chosen a room to update, you need only have an idea of what you'd like the end result to be. We will meet with you to discuss your ideas, the possible costs associated, and alternative options if necessary. Once we’ve decided to work together, a formal Proposal will be drawn up to start the process.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can I pick out my own detail items (i.e., fixtures, tile, appliances, faucets, etc.)?

Absolutely! After all, this is
all about you! While we are always here to offer an opinion based on our experience and expertise, the ultimate goal is that you end up with exactly what suits you and your family's needs.

What if I'm not sure what I want?

We employ an experienced interior designer that can sit down with you to work out a design plan. This can be an invaluable asset in attaining your ultimate vision. Starting your project with a clear vision can often decrease the costs associated with later change orders.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How are payments made during the project?

Prior to starting any project, we will work with you to determine a work and payment schedule to suit your lifestyle and budget. There are several ways to finance your project and we will work with every step of the way to get the result you want with minimal stress to you.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can I make changes to the design while the project is in progress?

Absolutely! It is common and frequent for changes to be made as the project progresses. Each change will be drawn up as an addendum to the original project contract and any price differences will be discussed with you prior to putting the changes into effect.

Home Maintenance
Can I make a list of multiple repair items to be done during one visit?

Yes, in fact we encourage "Lady-Do" lists for smaller tasks. Although we are equipped to handle most repairs on the spot, some tasks require specialized parts or materials that may require advance planning. For this reason, we ask that you provide details of your list at the time of scheduling.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How can I avoid future costly repairs?

Whenever our technicians are at your home for a repair that requires waiting time during a task they will check out the rest of the home (at your request) for potential trouble spots. This allows them to alert you to upcoming maintenance needs and possible costly repairs down the road. We also offer Home Maintenance Agreements that provide twice-yearly home inspection and necessary maintenance for prolonging the life of your home's value.

Our Maintenance Agreements can help us alert you to potential problems.

Heating and Cooling
Why should I have my furnace and air conditioner serviced?

Your furnace and air conditioner should each be inspected and serviced annually during its operational season. Regular annual service and cleaning can prolong the life of your system for up to 5 years. By having your systems tested and cleaned regularly, we can often anticipate trouble spots before they become a bigger problem, saving you on potential costly repairs.

Our Annual Maintenance Agreements take the guesswork out of taking care of your system!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Should my humidifier and electronic air cleaner also be serviced?

Yes. Any component to your heating and cooling system should be serviced along with the furnace and air conditioner. Electronic air cleaners have cells and prescreen filters that must be washed; humidifiers have pads that must be replaced at least once (if not twice) during the heating season for optimum performance. Any component will provide a longer life span with regular service.

Our Annual Maintenance Agreements cover service for all of your system's components!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How long can I expect my system to last?

Provided your system is serviced annually and filters changed regularly, most furnaces will last an average of 20 years and air conditioners an average of 15 years with minimal repairs. Regular service can prolong the life and efficiency of your units and also offers the benefit of anticipating future possible repairs. We strongly believe in repairing your system as long as it is economical. We will try to offer you options in repair versus replacement as long as possible.

Our Annual Maintenance Agreements can help prolong the life of your system!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What should I do if my furnace stops heating or my air conditioner stops cooling?

Turn the system off by thermostat or breaker and call us immediately! Prolonged stress on your system when it isn't providing heat or air can cause major damage and end up costing you more than necessary. We offer 24-hour emergency service to get you back to comfort as soon as possible.

Our Annual Maintenance Agreements can help reduce heating and cooling emergencies by providing regular annual service and testing of your system. In addition to prolonging the life of your system, our Maintenance Agreement customers enjoy a discount on repair labor and NEVER pay after-hours fees.

Our Annual Maintenance Agreements can help alert you to potential problems before they become emergencies!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How often should I wash or replace my furnace filter?

Filters should be changed every 2 months if your furnace uses a standard 1" media filter; every 4-6 months if it uses a 5" media filter. If you have an electronic air cleaner that uses a 1" filter, it should be washed every 2-3 months; if your EAC uses the 5" filter, the prescreen filters should be washed every 2 months and the main cells washed every 4-6 months.

Our Annual Maintenance Agreements can include regular filter changes/cleanings!
